Frequently Asked Questions

You’ve got questions. Debby's got answers.

Are you accepting new clients?

Yes! I am currently accepting new couples.

If you’d like to schedule a free 15-minute online consult, you can do so here.

Can we first speak with you anonymously?

I understand that sex can be difficult to talk about and therefore, reaching out for help might make you nervous. I've got you covered! You can first meet me anonymously via telephone or online for a free 15-minute, no strings attached consult. During a virtual consult you'll be able to see me and will have the option to turn your video off.

How can we schedule a free 15-minute consult?

You can send me an e-mail to schedule a free 15-minute consult or schedule it online here.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes, weekly/bi-weekly sessions can be held online, if you prefer to receive therapy from the privacy and comfort of your own home.

Intensive sessions are typically held in-person, although sometimes I'm able to make exceptions. Please contact me for more information about the possibilities.

Why do you offer a free welcome course?

I offer a free welcome course because I believe that it will save you time and money!

The course gives you an opportunity to see how I work, while introducing you to couples therapy concepts that I usually provide during an intake session.

By learning in advance, you'll be better prepared for your intake session. This means that we'll be able to jump-start the therapy process, rather than spend time (and money) teaching you important concepts that can easily be learned at home.

It's not mandatory to follow this course before the intake. However, it's highly recommended.

What is the length of treatment?

The average length of treatment is five to eight sessions, in addition to the intake.

Are you a kink aware therapist?

Yes, I'm a kink aware therapist and I work with clients who have diverse sexual interests and lifestyles, such as BDSM and Consensual Non-Monogamy (CNM).

I also work with couples where there is a mismatch of desire or sexual interests, for example when one partner is kinky and the other is vanilla.

When is traditional couples therapy or sex therapy a better fit?

If the following is true about you or your relationship, I recommend you seek traditional couples therapy, individual therapy or sex therapy, instead of participating in this program:

  • One of you wants more sex, but the other is not looking to make a change in this area of the relationship

  • You see couples therapy as the last resort before separation or divorce

  • You’re planning on ending the relationship

  • You’re no longer good companions, meaning that you’re not navigating daily life as a couple well together

  • There has been a recent or unresolved infidelity

  • You have active substance abuse, a trauma history or are currently clinically depressed, and haven’t received treatment yet

  • Your issues around sex involve unresolved sexual trauma

  • There is intermittent or ongoing violence within the relationship

Are your services covered by insurance?

Couples therapy is typically not covered by Dutch health insurance. However, it’s recommended that you double check with your provider.

Do I need a referral from my doctor?

No. As my services do not fall under basic health insurance, you do not need a referral from your doctor.
